CRATE / SPOR KLÜBÜ
Shimizu and Renberg will be represented in exhibitions at CRATE (Margate) opening on August 23, and Spor Klübü (Berlin) opening on August 30, including the project “Tomorrow & Yesterday”, a collaboration with Davis Museum.
“Tomorrow & Yesterday” was produced for the Davis Museum Permanent Collection. The object is designed as a column for Davis´ presentation vitrine. Like a Mesopotamian cylinder seal it is engraved with a picture story for rolling a relief into wet clay. The relief forms an allegory on the relationship between man and woman, as an endless chase between a hunter and a bird. Davis Museum made a short film featuring the piece and an interview with Àngels Casanovas at Museu d’Arqueologia de Catalunya – Barcelona.
Further exploration on the repeated scenes and pictorial scrolls, the mural piece “Damsgård” completed in April this year, is on display at FDR SErvice Road, between the 25th and 27th street on east Manhattan, New York. Comissioned by New York City Department of Transportation Barrier Beautification Project.
