Radio Hue (2004)
Art Space Hue, Seoul, 2004

Created with Joo Young Lee during a residency at SSamziespace in Seoul, this radio-style sound piece documents the 2004 Seoul art scene through interviews and reports with those directly involved. Artists, gallerists, museum staff, and writers reflect on the social and professional culture of their working environment. Responding to a shared set of questions, their answers range from concise remarks to extended reflections, together composing a multifaceted portrait of Seoul’s cultural landscape.

Presented at Art Space Hue, the project took the form of a radio-style audio piece, with the gallery’s director assuming the role of “radio host.” The installation also included related objects, such as a selection of the interviewees’ favorite magazines. At its center, visitors were invited to lounge on a massive white faux-leather beanbag. Shaped like a Möbius band—or a giant strand of Ttok noodle—it metaphorically represented the Seoul art scene as a self-sustaining, never-ending system, looping between alternative and mainstream positions.
